This kangaroo leather is 100% vegetable tanned and safe to laser. (cut or engrave both work well)
These have a fine smooth grain and have a light satin finish.
Offcuts are neck or leg pieces (leather is same quality) and are sold by size. Typically necks are the XL option. The small and medium will be a neck or leg.
.5oz to 1oz thickness-(.6 to 1mm thick) White is the thickest color and slightly stiffer, all other colors are closer to .6mm thick.
Colors are typically solid but red and saddle tan are slightly more rustic in appearance with color variations. Natural unfinished is very rustic. The other colors are very solid and consistent dye.

SIZES ARE AS FOLLOWS
Small-Approximately .75 irregularly shaped square foot
Medium-Approximately 1 irregularly shaped square foot
Large-Approximately 1.5 irregularly shaped square foot
Please refer to our lacing swatch photo for color reference (not all colors are available, many were discontinued by the tannery and are now out of stock)

If you need me to check your exact measurements for a project let me know.
I try my best to cherry pick the best option for each order. If you are unhappy with your leather piece feel free to return it within 7 days of delivery for a refund (less S&H). I also have small samples available if you are unsure if these will work for your project or if you need to see colors in person.
These are the leftover pieces after leather lacing is cut from the center of the hide and are from Packer tannery in Australia.
These may have an occasional small hole or scar, pores etc as they are a natural product from a wild animal but are overall unmarred. Please note-Natural unfinished shows more rustic appearance and visual marks but is overall smooth and marks not as visible once dyed. Natural unfinished is a popular option for razor sharp Japanese knife/blade stropping. We also carry kangaroo tails for more textured strops.

Packed with care.
We also have matching Kangaroo leather lacing available.
Kangaroo leather is a popular and high-quality material used in various leather goods such as shoes, wallets, belts, bags, and even dog show leads. However, during the manufacturing process, there are often scraps or offcuts of kangaroo leather that are too small to use for these larger products. Despite their size, these offcuts can still be valuable and have a variety of potential uses.

Leather Accessories
Offcuts of kangaroo leather can be used to create a range of smaller leather accessories, such as keychains, cardholders, or even earrings. These accessories can be a great way to use up small scraps of leather while also creating unique and personalized items.

Jewelry
Kangaroo leather offcuts can also be used to create leather jewelry, such as bracelets or necklaces. The soft and supple texture of the kangaroo leather makes it comfortable to wear, and its durability ensures that it can withstand regular use. Additionally, the unique grain pattern of kangaroo leather can add an interesting and eye-catching element to any piece of jewelry.

Repairs
Offcuts of kangaroo leather can also be used for repairs on existing leather products, such as patching holes or reinforcing weak points. Kangaroo leather's strength and durability make it an ideal material for repairs, as it can withstand a lot of wear and tear without tearing or ripping.

Inlay
Kangaroo leather offcuts can also be used for decorative inlay work on leather products. For example, small strips of kangaroo leather can be used to create a contrasting color or pattern on the surface of a leather belt or wallet. This inlay work can add a unique and personal touch to any leather product.

Craft Projects
Finally, offcuts of kangaroo leather can be used in a variety of craft projects. For example, they can be used to create leather flowers or leaves for decorative purposes, or even as an element in mixed media art projects. The possibilities are endless, and the unique qualities of kangaroo leather make it an excellent material for experimenting with in creative projects.

In conclusion, while offcuts of kangaroo leather may seem small and insignificant, they can still have a variety of potential uses. From creating accessories and jewelry to repairs and inlay work, the unique qualities of kangaroo leather make it an excellent material for a range of creative projects. By using these offcuts, we can reduce waste and create something new and valuable out of what might have been considered scrap.
WEIGHT FOR WEIGHT THE STRONGEST LEATHER-Due to its tightly grained horizontal fiber structure and naturally thin hide. Makes for easy clean cutting for Cricut, Silhouette and Glowforge machines. The perfect leather for making earrings, cuff bracelets, Hair Bow Ties, watch bands, wallets, shoes, bookbinding, hair crafts, bags, clutches, art and a whole host of craft and DIY uses. You can get slightly more intricate cuts with a cutting machine than with less dense leather. Due to its dense fibers, it also holds its shape and structure great after cutting.

TIGHTLY GRAINED-Results in a very clean crisp product that is easy to precisely cut (Tips for cutting machines, put the leather face side down and apply pressure to adhere well to your mat, use a strong grip mat and deep cut blade on genuine leather setting. Keep a .5" to 1" edge around the design so that it does not get pulled up and you may need to tape the leather with painters tape so it does not move around)

NATURALLY THIN-Kangaroo is best prized by leatherworkers for its soft, thin but yet very strong leather.

Packer Leather implements the highest levels of environmental stewardship through a focus on a renewable natural resource.

Kangaroo leather retains it strength from its fine grained horizontal fiber structure but yet is still soft and supple and a joy to work with. The best leather for machine or laser cutting jewelry, leather earrings, leather cuff bracelets, horse tack, braided bracelets, hobby horse and a whole host of other uses.
